This match will be played on 02/03/2024 at 12:00
Saturday’s football game at the City Ground pits together Nottingham Forest and Liverpool, the two old rivals. Last time out, Forest defeated Liverpool 1-0 in front of home fans, meaning that Jurgen Klopp’s troops are hungry for revenge. The hosts aim to recover from a 4-2 loss to Aston Villa, but they will have a big fish to fry against the league leaders. All Nuno Tavares, Willy Boly, Ibrahim Sangare, Ola Aina, and Chris Wood are out of contention with injuries, but there are no suspended players in the home team.
The Reds, on the other hand, did well to beat Chelsea in the EFL Cup final at the weekend. Liverpool are eager to retain top position in the standings and seeing that Mohamed Salah should be fit for the match, we are tempted to put our money on the visiting team. Towering attacker Darwin Nunez has overcome his injury as well.
How the bookies view it
Liverpool are solid odds-on favourites as expected at 8/15 with William Hill’s.
Nottingham Forest can be backed at 5/1 with Wjcasino and the draw is 7/2 with Paddy Power.
Recent head to heads
Liverpool cruised to a 3-0 home win in October, but came a cropper at the City Ground last season in a 1-0 defeat and the visitors have a curiously poor league record there – they haven’t won on their last 13 league visits there since 1984! Although they did win an FA Cup tie there two years ago.
Players to watch
Liverpool have a lot of injury problems as stated and there are plenty who will be touch and go up until kick off. Luis Diaz should certainly start though and he is 23/10 to score with BetVictor.
Morgan Gibbs-White scored last week against Aston Villa and it was his third goal this year. He is 11/2 to score anytime with WJ casino.
Recent Meetings
- Liverpool celebrated a comfortable 3-0 victory in the return game played in October last year at Anfield.
- Liverpool have four wins, one draw, and one defeat in the previous six encounters with Nottingham Forest.
- Only one of the previous four H2H affairs between the two rivals saw goals scored at both ends.
Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool Prediction
Jurgen Klopp is hopeful of having at least Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez back in the starting XI on Saturday at The City Ground. Even without them, Liverpool are the favourites to claim the spoils here. They have shown a phenomenal team spirit lately and their youngsters thrived in the title game against Chelsea six days ago. They should have what it takes to dispatch Nottingham Forest who lost four of the last six league games. The away win is paid at the odds of 1.53.
We’ve seen at least four goals in each of Liverpool’s last seven league matches. Nottingham Forest conceded three goals to Newcastle and four goals to Aston Villa in recent defeats. All but one of their previous nine Premier League fixtures provided goals at both ends. We have enough reasons to back the Over 3.5 goals FT bet at the 2.20 odds.
